Collaborate

I’ve Got the Bread if You’ve Got the Butter

As marketers, it’s our job to provide high quality services. As creatives, it’s our job to recognize our strengths and weaknesses.

Each of us has a unique bread-and-butter that turns hours into minutes. Contrarily, we offer complementing services that make our minutes feel like hours. Why limit ourselves (and our clients) when we could deliver a finished product that showcases passion and expertise in all areas?

Here’s What They Have to Say

So, you’re interested in becoming a collaborator, huh?

Do you want to share resources, exchange expertise, increase service value, mitigate risk for larger projects, expand offerings, and use referrals to scale? Well, you’re in luck. I’m building a collaborative community of creatives (say that three times fast) to exchange niche skill sets and help each other grow professionally and creatively.

How does it work?

Step One: Introductions

We’ll discuss how we can mutually benefit from collaborating by covering the services each of us offers, identifying where our client needs overlap, and considering opportunities for cross-referrals and higher visibility.

Step Three: Exchange

To highlight our collaboration, we'll exchange brand information and, if applicable, trade blog articles as featured guests to highlight expertise; resulting in a wider audience reach and higher exposure to new clientele.

Step Two: Agreements

After reaching a mutual agreement, we’ll formalize our partnership with a collaboration agreement that outlines the terms of our collaboration and sets clear expectations for client referrals and service bundling.

Step Four: Clientele

When a client approaches either of us with needs that align with our collaborator’s expertise, we will refer them accordingly. If a client requires multiple services that match both of our strengths, we’ll discount bundling our services together, allowing us to expand our client base and deliver high-quality, specialized services.

  • A collaboration aims to provide our clients with multi-sided services through combined expertise and increased visibility for both parties.

  • Collaborators will be able to increase their brand visibility and reach broader audiences with mutual promotion. Aiming to attract new clients, showcase each other’s expertise, and offer bundled services, collaborating can open the door for new business opportunities and enhance overall client satisfaction per project.

  • Clients find the best person for the job via collaborator referrals and receive discounted rates for bundling services between multiple professionals.

  • If the needs of a client solely align with a collaborator’s expertise, they'll be referred directly.

(Ex: a client requesting a bold and eccentric website design will be referred to the collaborator that excels at bold and eccentric web styles.)

For projects requiring varying expertise, we’ll collaborate to deliver a top-notch experience to our client.

(Ex. client requests a bold and eccentric website design with web copy included. The collaborator will create the website, and I will write the copy.)

  • Clients will receive discounts when using both of our services together, compared to hiring each of us separately.

  • We’ll feature each other’s services, key information, and possible blog articles (if you have a blog) that highlights our respective expertise and the value of our collaboration. I also offer special spotlights for featured partners.

  • We will outline the parameters of collaborator referrals to ensure we maintain individual clientele and consistent workload.

  • Yes, but only if their request meets the expertise and referral parameters of our collaboration agreement. Clients are welcome to follow their heart if they feel a collaborator is a better fit but will only receive a discounted rate when bundling us together.

  • We will agree on a discounted rate for bundled services, bill the client one time, and then split the profits accordingly. The exact discount and profit split will be negotiated based on the services provided and the pricing structure of each collaborator.

To simplify different pricing models (per project vs. hourly), we will standardize a discount based on a percentage of the combined total of our services.

  • Exclusivity terms can be discussed and included in the collaboration agreement if needed. This might involve agreeing not to work with certain competitors or focusing solely on each other’s services within specific markets.
